Orpington Hospital is safe - at least for 3 years. Kings College NHS Foundation Trust has presented plans to the South London Healthcare Trust (SLHT), which is due to be dissolved as Kings takes over. More details in News Shopper article. 13 February 2013 Finally the consultation recommendations have been published - see Trust Special Administrator's Report 7 January 2013 (page 57+) - although the Secretary of State's final decision does not mention Orpington Hospital (unless someone else can find something I missed in the 5 pages) - see Decision on TSA Recommendations. Services currently provided at the hospital will be transferred to a new Community Health & Wellbeing Centre. This decision was endorsed by the PCT Cluster Joint Board at a meeting on 29 November 2012. The recommentation further states: "Subject to the development of appropriate business cases and relevant planning approvals, the sale of the site should be completed by mid-2014, which will provide a recurrent financial benefit of around £2.3m to South London Healthcare NHS Trust." So what will happen to the site - will its historical background be lost forever? Comments and opinions please. |

Surely as orpington hospital was gifted to orpington by the people of ontario, we should have any final say over any sale

The area cannot withstand the Orpington Hospital site being turned into more houses .. we do not have enough school places locally and the transport network will not support more residents. All locals should fight decision to get rid of the buildings and they should be used to serve the community.
