Threat of Incineration Facility at Badgers Mount Removed13 May 2012
GOOD NEWS!! BOTH the Badgers Mount proposed sites have been removed from the preferred site options. See BMRA 25 November 2011 Badgers Mount currently faces TWO threats from Waste Management proposals. The ex MoD site - Chelsfield Ammunition Depot - has been put forward as a Minerals and Waste Recycling facility. This was included in a consultation which finished in August 2011). In a supplementary list, another site, known by Kent County Council as Site 104, sandwiched between the Orpington Bypass and the M25 link road, just near the Hewitts Roundabout, has been proposed as an incineration facility (Energy Recovery Facility). Also, the ex MoD site has 2 appeals outstanding on it, as the owner does not like the conditions that the Council has placed upon it. At the meeting of the Badgers Mount Residents' Association on 18 November, the committee members made clear their concerns about biomass technology and the possible siting of an ERF so near a residential area and one of outstanding natural beauty. (The consultation papers erroneously indicate that the site is not in or near a residential area |
There is a further supplementary consultation which ends on 19 December - full details on the Kent CC website:
