The audience were treated to a fine and varied show of the club members’ movies, including two of local historic interest. The first was one of the first films ever made by the club, which was discovered languishing in Bromley Library archives as an unmarked reel of 16mm film. Called ‘Firtree Gardens’, it was made back in the late 1950s for the local Civil Defence Corps, with music played by an Orpington Orchestra. It showed many of Orpington’s locations ‘as they were then’ – including the High Street and War Memorial. The second film covered the childhood life of Enid Blyton, who spent her formative years growing up in Beckenham – and showed her joys and traumas, and her desire to be a writer against all the odds.
Also shown was the club's ever popular 20 minute newsreel of local events – filmed by club members during 2013 and giving the audience a chance to relive those events and perhaps see themselves on the silver screen.
There were also the club’s usual variety of comedies and travelogues to keep the large audience amused, well entertained and applauding throughout the whole evening.
